Dear Friends of Education,
This fall we celebrated 19 years of progress for the Orange County Hispanic Education Endowment Fund, HEEF. To date, more than 1,690 scholarships have been awarded to college-bound youth. These scholarships support specific college majors and professional school as well as private K-12 education. Students are completing not only the bachelor’s degree but also advanced degrees and professional school.
Thanks and appreciation goes to the Orange County Community Foundation for managing the endowment funds, and for supporting and enabling our mission. The fiscal oversight and general management has played a significant role in HEEF’s success these past nineteen years. The Fund represents synergy throughout the county. With broad support from our supporters and volunteers, together we
- Enable Latino students to pursue higher education and professional career pathways;
- Leverage resources by uniting scholarship initiatives;
- Connect educational and community leaders in a shared purpose;
- Recognize teachers who motivate and inspire students;
- Facilitate networking opportunities for Hispanic business; and
- Celebrate the vibrant Latino culture of Southern California.
Let me direct you to the Apple of Gold section of this web site, where you can read about our 2012 Award recipients, who are outstanding educators in Orange County. Our recipients exert tremendous influence on students’ attitudes toward higher education and challenging goals for meaningful careers. They instill hope for the future, especially for students who are the first in their families to attend college. These individuals inspire and motivate students to reach for the stars. We celebrate them not only for who they are and what they do, but for the greater impact they have on the community at largepreparing students to become productive members of society and enriching the quality of life in Orange County.
Our goal is to reach $3.5 million in 2013. Working together, and thanks to our sponsors, this can be accomplished. Please refer to our general endowment and our various sub-funds listed in this program. You may target your donation as desired and support a particular area of study important you, whether business, architecture, or health care or private education. HEEF is a volunteer-run organization, so your gift carries maximum impact. Thanks to all of our volunteers, and thank you for your support. Every dollar makes a difference for a student!
